Active research interests include faecal incontinence, the female pelvic floor, and laparoscopic colorectal surgery. Current research activity includes a prospective study on the pelvic floor after childbirth, laparoscopic colorectal resection for carcinoma and quality of life analysis after resection for colon or rectal cancer, as well as active involvement in the  formation of databases for colon and rectal cancer and anal fistula to allow surgeons to benchmark and assess their performance. It is planned for this prospective database to be utilised across the state.
