Grant Funded Research

The Centre also undertakes research projects of a non-military nature.  The Centre has completed a number of grant funded projects and has others underway as listed below.   The CMVH welcomes inquiries from students wishing to undertake PhD with subjects available in the area of post traumatic stress and in other areas by negotiation with the director.

NHMRC Pt Pirie Lead Study

This 3 year project will study the long term effects of lead exposure on cognitive ability and has just commenced.  This has relevance to Defence and DVA in that heavy metal exposure is a current issue of concern for the deployed soldier. 


Feasibility study into on the job training for Bio-security and disaster response

This PHERP study for the Department of health and Aging is now complete and was looking at models for training post grad Public Health students to best ready them for work in these areas. 


NHMRC Injury Vulnerability Study

This study is in its final year of looking at long term and delayed onset of PTSD.  This study has obvious links to Defence and DVA.  There are a number of spin off projects also currently being completed including the SGIC motor accident victim study.
