School of Population Health and Clinical Practice

The School of Population Health and Clinical Practice is one of the six Schools in the Faculty of Health Sciences created when the Faculty was restructured in 2005. The School brings together academic disciplines concerned with:

  • preventing disease and promoting health in populations
  • provision of health services which are the first point of contact for individuals and families in the community
  • health services generally and in rural and remote localities
  • nursing in all its practice specialities, and
  • Indigenous health

The School currently comprises over 200 academic and research staff, over 700 Title Holders, 65 research postgraduate students and 460 coursework postgraduate students. These are located mainly at the University’s North Terrace campus with significant numbers of staff and students based in the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Pulteney Street Tower Building and elsewhere at the University’s Thebarton Campus and at Whyalla in association with the University of South Australia.

The School of Population Health and Clinical Practice consists of the following disciplines/units:

Discipline of Rural Health (Spencer Gulf Rural Health School)
Centre for Military & Veterans' Health
Medicine, Learning and Teaching Unit

and is linked with a number of significant organisations for example the Joanna Briggs Institute, Yaitya Purruna (Indigenous Health Unit), Adelaide Health Technology Assessment, the Data Management and Analysis Centre and the Occupational and Environmental Health Laboratory.

The Head of School is Professor Konrad Jamrozik.  The School Manager is Mr Greg Bussell and Finance and HR Manager, Mrs Florence Kalambokas, Personal Assistant to the Head of School is Mrs Felicia Matthews  all located in the School office, Level 9, 10 Pulteney Street. The Discipline Heads are Professor Nigel Stocks (General Practice), Dr Judy Magarey (Nursing), Mr John Moss (Public Health), Professor Jonathan Newbury (Rural Health), Professor Sandy McFarlane (CMVH) and Anne Tonkin (Co-Director of MLTU).

The School of Population Health and Clinical Practice is managed by a School Executive Committee.
