Dr Rod Irvine

  • Research: Current research and interests are focussed on the basic pharmacology of drugs of abuse, in particular opioids and amphetamines. In vivo research uses radiotelemetric recording of various parameters: blood pressure, ECG,activity etc in the freely moving conscious animals. In vitro studies using isolated tissues, cells and membranes are also undertaken as part of an integrated approach to solving problems of toxicity, dependence and withdrawal associated with these drugs.
