Role

Mick contributed to the establishment of the School of Paediatrics and Reproductive Health in his role as School Manager. He now manages the financial and adminstrative functions of both the School and the Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

He was involved with the formation of the Research Centre for Reproductive Health and continues as the Centre's Manager.

Currently Mick is assisting the Faculty of Health Sciences, in a financial role, to foster a closer working relationship between the Faculty and the Schools.

Research Interest

Past research activity was concerned with the mechanism for the timing of seasonal breeding with a particular interest in the interaction to the circadian timing mechanism.This involves investigations into how the circadian pacemaker responds to the changing daily light and melatonin signals, and how that information is relayed to an annual timekeeping mechanism.

The sheep has been principally utilised in this work as a seasonal breeding model. Considerable information has been gathered on both the circadian system and oestrus timing under both natural and various experimental conditions.
