PUBLICATIONS:

Total 50 publications: 25 full length papers in books (9) and in refereed journals (16), 4 short communications, 19 refereed abstracts and 1 unrefereed abstract in international journals, PhD thesis ."Dental Health and Affiliations of Inhabitants of the Ancient Greek Colony in Metaponto, Italy (6th-3rd Century BC).

CONGRESSES AND CONFERENCES:

Participated in 35 international and local congresses and conferences by contributing papers. Among others regularly attends Annual Meetings of the Am. Assoc. of Phys. Anthropologists (since 1989). Invited speaker at the International Congress "The Origin of Syphilis in Europe. Before or After 1943?", 1993, Toulon, France. Invited to another six conferences in Italy, Greece and Germany.

Interviews: National Geographic Magazine in 1993 (published in 1994), radio ABC and SBS in 1997, 1998 and 1999; "l'Espresso" an Italian magazine, 1997; Film made by NOVA (Boston) on the eruption of Vesuvius screened in the US in November 1998 and by BBC in 1999; Film "Secrets of the dead"on the history of syphilis made by Granada TV and screened on BBC in 2000; Film "Secrets of St Marys" screened on ABC in 2001.

FIELD WORK EXPERIENCE:

In 1985, 1986, 1988, 1990-1993 involved in excavation of ancient Greek cemeteries in Metaponto excavating and studying the skeletal and dental human remains since 1993 and currently continues studying the skeletal collections in Italy in various locations (Metaponto, Potenza, Paestum, Eboli, Florence, and Pompeii). The work includes planning and organising the trips and close collaboration with local archaeologists and the supervision of postgraduate students. Since 1994 participates in work of the scientific research group established at the Archaeological Superintendency of Pompeii (dental and skeletal studies) In addition to above participated in children growth surveys in South Africa and in excavations in Poland, Texas (USA) and South Africa.

Archaeological Museum in Madrid and in Solsona near Barcelona)
