Dr Rachel Norris

PhD BSc (Hons, Zoology) (University of Adelaide, Australia),

Lecturer
Honours Co-Ordinator

Main research area:

Interspecific and intraspecific variation in morphology of vertebrates. Systematics and phylogenetics of ranid frogs. Cladistics. Osteology and Craniometry. Currently holds a large ARC Discovery Grant (with M. Henneberg and R. Eckhardt) entitled: "Implications of morphological and molecular measures of diversity in papionine primates for interpretation of hominid phylogeny". Current research also includes studies on the craniometric variation in koalas; climbing adaptations in marsupials and primates.

Other Interests:

Hominid evolution; osteology of vertebrates; comparative anatomy of vertebrate skulls.

Teaching Areas:

Biological Anthropology; Comparative Anatomy of Body Systems; Functional Human Anatomy; Human Biology; Anatomy and Biomechanics (Physiotherapy)

Other Roles:

Convenor of the Abbie Centre for Research and Teaching, maintenance of the comparative anatomy and hominid displays;
Library Representative
