Anaesthesia and Intensive Care

The University Discipline of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care is concerned with all aspects of perioperative medical care, from preoperative assessment, anaesthesia for surgical procedures, pain management and postoperative care, to advanced life support in intensive care, retrieval medicine and hyperbaric medicine.

The Discipline has a presence within the Royal Adelaide, Queen Elizabeth and Women's and Children's Hospitals, all major teaching hospitals of the University of Adelaide. In addition, it has a presence at the Lyell McEwin Health Service, Modbury Hospital and representation in a number of smaller centres.

The Head of the University of Adelaide Discipline of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care is Professor Guy Ludbrook, located at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
