Postgraduate In addition to Honours, the Discipline offers many opportunities for postgraduate
students wishing to undertake a Masters of Medical Science, Doctor of Medicine
or Doctor of Philosophy. A M.Med.Sc. may be completed in two years; usually
a Ph.D. or M.D. take 3-4 years to complete. Students are expected to enrol
in the M.Med.Sc. and may later transfer to a Ph.D.
The Discipline welcomes students of high academic ability who should have a degree in an appropriate field. Some scholarships are available for students of high academic ability and achievement, but all applicants are urged to apply to governmental and non-governmental bodies for scholarships for living expenses. For Overseas student enquiries please follow this link http://www.international.adelaide.edu.au/ Structured Program for M Med Sc and PhD students in the Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology The aim of the Structured Program is to broaden your skills as a researcher so that you will not only complete your postgraduate degree successfully and within the 2 years (for Masters) or 3 to 4 years for PhD, but also be prepared for the next stage of your career as an independent scientist. The Faculty of Health Sciences Research Proposal Proforma with a Gannt Chart is to be completed as part of the Core component of your Structured Program and is to be submitted within 6 months of commencement of the program. A sample Gantt Chart (doc 87kB) is provided here to assist HDR students and their supervisors in setting appropriate timelines and milestones during the candidature. Other postgraduate informationThe Faculty of Health Sciences has developed Guidelines and Strategies to assist timely HDR Completions (doc 904kB) and Recommended Corrections to Thesis following Examination for Supervisors (doc 34kB). Also there have been changes to the Rules governing PhD, Research Masters, Professional doctorates, and higher doctorates that have been approved by the Academic Board and advised by Professor Richard Russell, Dean of Graduate Studies.
