It has been a very hectic three months since our September newsletter and I am pleased to report that we are still receiving an excellent response from GPs regarding participation in the trial. The table below (as of December 17th) shows that in total there are over 360 practices involved and 750 GPs registered as investigators for ANBP2. Also we are now active in many non-metropolitan sites across Australia making this a truly national research activity. Unfortunately however, we are not able to cover all locations across this vast country and we thank those who expressed interest from remote areas which we are unable to service.
We reach a number of major milestones this quarter including our 1000th subject on October 1st and our 1500th on December 18th. The figure below illustrates the rapid rate of increase in recruitment over the past 3 months so that our projected number of subjects for 1996 (1500) has been reached.
The other important aspect of the recruitment has been the increase in the rate of entry per subject screened and recently this has reached 10% nationally. As you can see from the figure (using data at November 30th) the rate varies considerably across the country however in all instances the rate is increasing. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your contribution during 1996 and wish you the very best for the year ahead.
Christopher Reid, Director ANBP2.
